Activities

Pleasant View’s Activity Department operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The staff consists of one Activity Director, an Activity Program and Volunteer Coordinator, two full-time staff, nine part-time employees, and several volunteers.
The activity staff plans and leads daily activity programs which enhance and promote quality of life for the residents. This means working “hands on” with primarily the elderly in different settings such as small groups, large groups, or one-on-one.

Other responsibilities include documentation, calendar planning, coordinating social events, and working closely with the Director in planning daily, weekly, and monthly programs. Each resident is provided a weekly, large print activity schedule and is encouraged to participate in those activities of his or her choosing. A monthly oversized calendar of activities is posted within the facility.

We provide a wide range of activities for both large and small groups, and have expanded the program by providing more “outreach”, through one-on-one visitations which enable all residents to be more involved and allows for the variety of functioning levels.

All activity staff focus on the alert, moderate and low functioning residents, men, women, the young, and the old. It is our mission to provide the best quality of life for all residents and to meet their physical, emotional, intellectual, cultural, and spiritual needs.

Plants, animals, and children are a daily element in our environment and we are continuing to develop inter-generational programs which includes involvement with the in-house Head Start educational program. Community individuals and organizations are invited to visit Pleasant View and to provide special events for the residents and their families and friends to enjoy.

Our commitment remains to eliminate feelings of helplessness, boredom, and loneliness.
